It’s a Thursday night and West Coast rap anthems are thumping over the sound system.

The Europa League anthem was played over the PA system as the players lined up at Villa Park on Tuesday, before it was switched for the Champions League anthem.

The song was banned for broadcasters but gained popularity among Nigerians and became a street anthem.

The singer, now 24, calls “Messy” an “ADHD anthem” — one that’s finally focused listeners’ attention on her to the point that she had to find roomier digs on this trip to accommodate her growing team.

The students briefly sang the national anthem before dramatically leaving the hall, which was sealed off by anti-riot police, armed with batons and tear gas canisters.
